Young Jesus sits among teachers in the temple courts, a lesson told at our church of Christ in Laudium

From the life of Jesus Christ

The boy in the temple

When Jesus was twelve, his family travelled to Jerusalem for the Passover feast. On the way home, Mary and Joseph found that he was not with the group. They searched for three days. At last they found him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking questions.

Everyone who heard him was amazed at his understanding. Mary said they had been very worried. Jesus asked why they had looked for him, and said he had to be in his Father’s house. Then he went home with them to Nazareth and obeyed them, and he grew in wisdom and in favor with God and people.

Where to read it: Luke 2:41–52.
