The last supper
On the night before he was crucified, Jesus ate the Passover meal with his twelve disciples in an upper room in Jerusalem. He took bread, gave thanks, broke it and gave it to them. He said, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
After the meal he took the cup and said it was the new covenant in his blood, poured out for them. John adds that during the evening Jesus knelt and washed his disciples’ feet, to show them how to serve one another.
